Two Little Sisters wake Jack. He rubs his head, then gets up. The Little Sisters back away as they see him get up. One walks to him with the key card Fontaine had stolen. Jack reaches for it. She moves back in fear. Jack pauses, than smiles, and kneels down. He then moves his hand out. She smiles, and gives him it. During this transaction we hear Tenenbaums voice-
[Tenenbaums voice]
They offered you their city. You could have had the Adam. You could have had Rapture. But you refused it. And what did you do next?
We see a bathysphere rise.
[Tenenbaum voice]
What Ive come to expect of you. You saved us.
Jack comes out of the sphere and onto the lighthouse island. One Little Sister shields her eyes from the sun. Jack helps her out of the sphere. More come out, including Tenenbaum. Jack looks out to sea.
[Seagulls cawing]
[Jack]
[Sigh] I never thought Id see the sun again.
He sits down. Tenenbaum also looks out.
[Little Sister]
Mama Tenenbaum?
She looks down.
[Little Sister]
What about the people below?
She kneels down.
[Tenenbaum]
Oh! Theres nothing we could do for them. Im afraid in their greed for Adam, they lost their conscience.
[Little Sister]
What now?
[Man]
Ahoy!
They turn. We see a boat, with a man waving.
[Man]
Wait there, and will come ashore!
We cut to the boat, with its mini bridge connecting the boat to the land. Three man walk to the Jack and the girls. One medic, one crew man, one Captain.
[Man #2]
I am Captain Miller. We received word of the crash, and came here as fast as we could. Are there any injuries?
[Jack]
We
we are all thats left.
[Captain Miller]
Hmm. Is this your family?
Jack looks at the girls.
[Jack]
Yes.
The Little Sisters look up at him in confusion, then smile.
[Captain Miller]
Very well. Come aboard and will have our medic tend to you. Then will head to New York. Answer some simple questions and we can get on with our lives.
The captain turns. One of the crew stops him.
[Crew man]
Sir. This lighthouse isnt on the map!
The Captain looks up.
[Captain Miller]
Who owns this lighthouse?
[Jack]
The owners, wishes to stay.
[Captain Miller]
Hmm. Lovely place. Well, come aboard.
We cut to Jack and the girls coming aboard.
[Medic]
Okay. Come with me and Ill check you.
[Jack]
Uh. With your permission, we like to stay up top.
[Medic]
Very well. Ill check you first. You look like youve been through hell.
He walks Jack over to a chair.
[Jack]
You dont know the half of it.
The Little Sisters follow. Tenenbaum goes to the railing and looks at the lighthouse. We see it getting smaller as the ship continues leaving. Tenenbaum turns to Jack and the little ones. We see the medic bandaging Jack up.
[Tenenbaums voice]
Youve done a lot. Done things few would dare. And because of it, you have showed me that we can get a chance of redemption. And I shall not make a mistake like that ever again. And the little ones. You have given them a chance.
We see Jack happily with the Little Sisters.
[Tenenbaums voice]
A chance to learn, to love, and to live. But you, in the end. With all youve endured, what was your reward? You havent said. But I know. What your heart always wanted. The one thing Fontaine and his greed could never control. What you always wanted. A family.
THE END
Word around the campfire at 2K Games forums is that, because of the nature of the sequel's plot, the "good" ending IS CANONICAL (what really happened).
How does this effect me?
And what does CANONICAL mean?
I made that post because I thought that you were curious about any new info on BioShock 2.
Canon, in terms of a fictional universe, is any material that is considered to be "genuine," or can be directly referenced as material produced by the original author or creator of a series. -(pulled off of Wikipedia.org)
